The Acton Board of Health and the Medical Reserve Corps would like to thank all the Acton Residents who participated in the Emergency Dispensing Site Drill that took place on Saturday morning May 2nd, 2009, at the DPW site on Forest Road. Over 400 vehicles participated in this "Drive Through" educational exercise, which helped determine how the MRC would quickly dispense emergency medicine to the 20,000 residents in town in the event of an actual emergency.

The drill was held in conjunction with Acton Hazardous Waste Day. This mock incident was designed to understand how well Acton residents are prepared for a large-scale medical emergency. It was particularly timely in light of the current "H1N1 (swine) Flu Emergency" that could potentially affect the country. The MRC distributed literature to Acton residents outlining steps to take in the event of an epidemic. For more information visit: www.region4a-mrc.org.

The MRC needs both medical and non medical volunteers. Our goal is to establish teams of local medical and public health professionals who can contribute their skills and expertise throughout the year and during times of community need. We are also in need of non-medical personnel who may share their rich and varied backgrounds with the organization.
